ROLE OVERVIEW

Ahead of the 2024/2025 Scottish Premiership, this is one of the most exciting Head Coach opportunities at one of Scotland’s most ambitious rugby clubs.


The Head Coach will have a track record of coaching successful teams and understands how to get the best of players and staff. They must be someone who can lead a positive culture and inspire others around them, with the aim of making our club proud. Watsonian FC is a club steeped in tradition and has produced a number of Professional and International players. The Head Coach will continue to inspire players to perform to their best ability.


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Relevant rugby coaching experience with a successful track record of developing players and teams.
  • UKCC Level 3 or SRU Advanced Coaching Award (or equivalent)
  • An in-depth knowledge and experience of rugby at the higher levels with a view to player recruitment and development.
  • Experience of attending and delivering CPD opportunities.
  • A track record of managing and working with in a set budget.






KEY DELIVERABLES

• The ability to build, lead and manage a team of coaches and support staff- forming strong relationships based on mutual respect and trust, reinforced with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.



• Work with coaching, analysis, medical & strength and conditioning staff at the club and with Scottish Rugby to ensure all aspects of team fitness, selection & administration are managed appropriately.


• Responsibility for the creation and implementation of a season plan and performance strategy, linked to the teams’ profile and goals, that will support Watsonians overall season objectives and ambitions.


• Ensure that individual player development plans are in place for each squad member which supports their technical, tactical, physical and mental development.


• Create a transparent and clear selection policy which is communicated to all players and support staff.


• Providing leadership by example, setting and maintaining high standards of behaviour, achievement, sportsmanship and discipline.







KEY DETAILS

Reporting to: Director of Rugby

Typical working pattern: Tuesday & Thursday training and match days

Salary: DOE

Location: Myreside
